The First National Scientific and Skills Olympiad for Private Institutions in Iran was held in Tehran with the participation of 550 contestants.
The event was held on January 13, 2024, with the aim of identifying and supporting hidden talents. Organized under the auspices of the National Association of Private Technical and Vocational Institutes in Alborz Province, it concluded with the announcement of the jury’s verdict on February 1, 2024, at the International Conference Hall of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
During the Olympiad, 120 papers were presented, and Mr. Mojtaba Valizadegan’s paper titled “The Impact of Medicinal Plants on the Gut Microbiome” achieved second place and won a silver medal, according to the judges’ decision.
In this paper, Mr. Valizadegan examined gut microbiota bacteria and diseases related to dysbiosis (microbial imbalance in the gut), such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, nervous system disorders, immune system issues, and overweight. He highlighted the effectiveness of certain medicinal plants, including Ashwagandha, in maintaining gut microbiome balance.
